Theater owners have noticed a disturbing trend. More and more viewers are getting their movie entertainment by renting DVDs and streaming content from sites like Netflix and Hulu. Many would-be theater goers are finding that watching on the small screen is better than shelling out for the big screen.
For a story about this trend, I started with a photo of the local Fairfield movie house, photographed by Steven Cawman.
I removed the original marquee type and found a font that closely resembled the original. The text was rasterized, a few filters applied, and skewed to look as if it were on the marquee. The finished “front dooor” for BNET is below:
